We’ve had a good and busy start to the New Year with the successful launch of our SS16 collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence.
As always the numbers attending the show were good, in fact the first day was manic, well in the morning at least. The queue to get in was mad – take a look at the picture – and with people trying to push their way forward, some along with their bicycles, in another circumstance it may well have turned quite nasty!
Inside it was down to business and the buyers were busying themselves across the halls. I’d just like to say a big thank you to all our customers (new and old) who came to the stand, many of which had travelled half way across the world to be there. It was great to see you and catch up.
You know that’s one of the wonderful things about international shows: being able to conduct business with international clients in just a few days and to communicative with them irrespective of whether you can actually speak each other’s language. Just basic communication skills and you’re away. Add in a sense of humour and your time on the stand can be as entertaining as you want to make it.
I’m happy to report that the general vibe in the marketplace is positive. Men’s fashion keeps on outperforming women’s, and the trend for higher quality items keeps on rising – long may it continue. It was also good to see so many of our fellow countrymen in attendance. The British contingent was as strong as ever - let’s keep up the good work guys.
Back in the UK and we’ve just finished following up all the orders and enquiries, so it is with fond memories that we can now file and organise Pitti Uomo January 2016.
Having attended Pitti that many times it has become a sort of home from home for me. There’s something very soothing about staying in the same hotel, eating in the same restaurants and in particular, visiting the same bar after the show for that nice, chilled glass of Prosecco. I look forward to doing it all again in the summer!
