It was back home to even more sunshine after this summer’s Pitti Uomo in Florence. The temperatures in Italy were to be expected, but we certainly didn’t think we’d be coming back to a heatwave in the UK!
Despite all the global uncertainty we are experiencing, we are pleased to hear that visitor numbers for Pitti Uomo this June finished on a par with those of 2016. Often a victim of a country’s economic climate, the fashion industry has to take the rough with the smooth, so it’s always good to hear positive news. Overall the atmosphere was buzzing and there was certainly an air of confidence that market conditions are improving.
As always, the hottest fashion brands and personnel in menswear attended this leading global reference point, with visitors coming from all corners of the globe. A total of 25,500 buyers from key department stores, specialist stores, online retailers and major chains came to see the latest designs with only a few Italian visitors missing out due to rail strikes affecting their travel plans!
The usual mix of Pitti Peacocks were on show, however the extreme heat did somewhat stifle their clothing choices and the pleasure of ‘people watching’ outside during your lunch break was a little too hot to bear.
As a launch pad for our new designs the show gave us a great stage to present our AW17/8 collection. Our focus on shape, texture and natural materials resonated well with buyers and we are looking forward to launching the collection on our website this September. Our aim for AW17/18 is to unite men in a love of timeless classic styles and materials that have both a visual and physical presence, so please keep your eyes open for more posts as September draws nearer.
Having made a pilgrimage to Il Porcino and rubbing his snout we look forward to returning to Florence for Pitti Uomo 93 in January 2018. In the meantime, we’ll continue to enjoy the summer and perhaps take on a few more glasses of Prosecco to cool down!
