Purple: The Colour of 2018

After Pantone revealed it’s annual ‘colour of the year’ prediction last December -PANTONE© 18-3838 Ultra Violet - we have certainly seen the rise of purple these past few months.

The people at Pantone make their choice from indicators within society and it would seem that from fashion to food, the colour purple has been sending us subliminal messages for some time. Our love of superfoods, and the promotion of nutrient rich blueberries, red cabbage and beetroot, has looked to improve our health, whilst the tragic death of Prince brought about the revival of Purple Rain. Considered a very spiritual colour, and often used as an aid for meditation, our growing appreciation of mindfulness has also fueled the purple revolution.

Putting purple in your wardrobe

As a creative colour, one that is both thoughtful and provocative, purple can be used to unleash your own creativity. From light pastel shades for a light hearted ‘Spring’ feel, to deeper, more saturated shades for greater impact, carrying off a whole look of purple can prove difficult for some.

But whether you are looking to add tonal accents to your favourite purple suit, or simply dip into the 2018 colour of the year, you can certainly uplift your outfit and look on trend with a few well-chosen purple accessories.

From cufflinks and cuffknots, to pocket squares and lapel pins, the mix and match of different shades will maximise your style during 2018.

Colour your life with purple.
